A Community of Spiritual Seekers
Unity of Corvallis is more than a traditional church; it is a community
of spiritual seekers that support one another in our life journey. We
enjoy being part of an intentional spiritual community.

Our Beliefs
Unity Church of Corvallis believes in embracing diverse individuals from
all walks of life. We are affiliated with the Unity
Movement, a nondenominational 100-year tradition honoring the divine
in all and the wisdom of diverse spiritual paths.
Unity is best known for the popular publication “The Daily Word”,
which offers daily inspirational writings, and for
Silent Unity,
a free 24-hour prayer service.
Unity’s basic teachings encourage people to explore and apply Unity
teachings based on their own spiritual understanding. We believe this
spiritual understanding is enhanced through reflective prayer and
meditation.
The five basic ideas that make up the Unity belief system are:
| |
1. |
God is good and everywhere present. |
| |
2. |
The spirit of God lives within each person, therefore, all people are
inherently good. |
| |
3. |
We create our life experiences through our way of thinking. |
| |
4. |
There is power in affirmative prayer, which we believe increases our
connection to Spirit. |
| |
5. |
Knowledge of these spiritual principles is not enough. We must live
them. |
Community-Based Model
One of the more progressive aspects of Unity of Corvallis is the manner
in which we operate as a spiritual community. We have come to call it
the “Community-Based Model.” We do not claim to have perfected a
community-style church and so, in calling it a model, we infer that it
is still open to change, experimentation and growth.
The basic tenet of our community-based model is that the church is led
and co-created by the members attending. We create a context for each to
express their unique light and love, and for each to pursue their
passion as it relates to the church's unfolding.

Honoring Diversity Within The Unity Movement
We believe that all people are created with sacred worth. Therefore, we
recognize the importance of serving all people within the Unity family
in spiritually and emotionally caring ways. We strive for our
ministries, publications, and programs to reach out to all who seek
Unity support and spiritual growth. It is imperative that our ministries
and outreaches be free of discrimination on the basis of race, color,
gender, age, creed, religion, national origin, ethnicity, physical
disability, or sexual orientation. Our sincere desire is to ensure that
all Unity organizations are nondiscriminatory and support diversity. We
actively ordain gay, lesbian and bi-sexual ministers and welcome gay,
lesbian and bi-sexual individuals and couples.
